The ISS2026 Banquet will be held on Wednesday, December 2, starting at 18:30, at the Toyama Denki Building (Address: 3-1 Sakurabashi-dōri, Toyama City, Toyama 930-0004, Japan). It is approximately a five-minute walk from the Toyama International Conference Center to the Toyama Denki Building.
The Toyama Denki Building is a historic landmark that has played an important role in the region’s cultural and economic development. Completed in 1936, the building is renowned for its stately tile-clad exterior and early Shōwa-era architectural style. It has long been regarded as one of Toyama’s symbolic structures, together with the former Toyama Prefectural Office, as both were built prior to World War II.
Originally constructed as the headquarters of Nihonkai Electric, the building also housed the prestigious Toyama Denki Building Hotel, which once accommodated distinguished guests such as Emperor Shōwa. Its robust steel-reinforced concrete structure survived the 1945 Toyama air raid with limited damage, allowing much of its original appearance to remain intact today.
In recognition of its historical and architectural value, the Toyama Denki Building was designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in 2018. The building now hosts a variety of facilities, including large and medium halls, meeting rooms, offices, and restaurants, making it an important venue for events, business functions, and community activities in Toyama.
Participants who have registered for ISS2026 are eligible to attend the banquet, provided that they complete the banquet registration in advance. Invited speakers and plenary speakers are also kindly requested to complete their registration ahead of time.
