Visa Information for ISS2026 Participants

Participants from countries such as China and India who plan to attend ISS2026 are required to obtain a valid Japanese entry visa. For the visa application, detailed information is required, including nationality, occupation, date of birth, age, name exactly as stated in the passport, gender, intended period of stay, departure airport in the home country, arrival airport in Japan, flight number, means of transportation within Japan, dates and times of domestic travel, name and contact information of the accommodation hotel in Japan, as well as information for the return trip, including domestic transportation within Japan, travel dates and times, departure airport from Japan, arrival airport, and flight number. Please prepare all necessary information well in advance of the symposium.
The ISS Secretariat will issue the documents required for the visa application only to presenters whose Abstract Submission has been completed and whose registration fee payment has been confirmed. Assistance with visa application documents will be provided only after confirmation of either paper submission or corporate exhibition registration, and completion of the participation fee payment.
If you wish to request support for the issuance of Japanese entry visa application documents, please complete the VISA SUPPORT FORM below and submit it to the ISS Secretariat.

Please note that support for visa application documents is limited to presenters who have completed Abstract Submission, their co-authors, and registered Industrial Exhibitors. If there is no presentation, the ISS-Secretariat will not provide visa application document support. The period of stay indicated in the visa application should, in principle, cover the duration of ISS2026 and be approximately one week. The ISS Secretariat can support only visas issued for the purpose of attending ISS2026. Every year, some participants plan their stay to attend workshops unrelated to ISS before or after the symposium.

If such workshops are not officially designated as ISS satellite conferences, the ISS-Secretariat cannot act as a guarantor for those activities. When entering Japan for the purpose of attending an academic conference, a single guarantor must take responsibility for the entire itinerary from arrival in Japan to departure. If you plan to attend meetings or workshops before or after ISS that are not officially recognized as ISS satellite conferences, please request the organizer of the relevant meeting to either prepare visa application documents covering the entire stay including ISS2026, or to apply for official registration of the meeting as an ISS satellite conference.

If you wish to extend your stay in Japan before or after the ISS2026 period for purposes other than participation in ISS2026 (such as tourism), you must apply for your visa independently, for the entire duration including the ISS participation period, through a travel agency or similar service. In such cases, the ISS Secretariat cannot provide support.

If you have any questions concerning the visa application documents, please do not hesitate to contact the ISS-Secretariat.
